I just recently returned from Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) East this past weekend and just wanted to share a bit of my experience. This was my 5th or 6 PAX event, with my first being back in 2010 when PAX first came to the East Coast.
I relocated last year. During the process, I tried to add my new mailing address to a banking application, however, I encountered a slight problem: the bank uses a very popular online Maps service to validate addresses and my new address was part of a newly developed neighborhood. No problem, I thought: I’ve been a Maps “local guide” for about a decade, I’ll just add the street myself. The street was even visible in the satellite image, so I just carefully traced the street and submitted the path and name to Maps. It went into the usual pending queue…
For the past couple years, I’ve fiddled with multiple programmable keyboards and various remapping software like Piper to try to customize my input devices to work they way I wanted them too. All the while, I had a RPi Pico sitting, unused on a shelf. Finally, in 2026, I discovered HID Remapper.
After about two weeks of additional reading and tinkering, I think I’ve got a slightly better informed opinion about Meshtastic and it’s uses.

My wife recently came into possession of an “Answer Book.” These were small info guides intended to provide salesclerks with the basic knowledge needed to help customers find the right products for purchase. This particular answer book for the Home Entertainment department of a rather large retailer and was issued in 2006, making it exactly two decades old this year.
Now that I have an I2P proxy running in my homelab, I can theoretically reach the “invisible internet” from any device on my network by just pointing a web browser to the proxy.
